The BEFORE was when I was stuck with no traction, no users, no clients, no revenue, but that constant glimmer of hope that this next feature is really going to be the one that makes things BLOW UP.
And then there’s the AFTER. The AFTER is when I took a step back and looked at the most successful startups and how they broke through and got to escape velocity and product market fit.
I learned that as a technical startup founder, I was constantly overindexing on Product, and not putting enough emphasis on the other aspects that are just as crucial to reaching product market fit.
I realized that I could "interview" customers all day long, but until I got into a sales conversation with them and they put their money where their mouth is, there is no way to really know if I am hitting a real problem for them.
I learned (almost too late) in my startup career that in order to break out to product market fit, you don't only need a sound product strategy but you also need a sound market and go-to-market strategy -- all of which I tended to overcomplicate and undervalue as a technical founder!
Over time, I developed a framework to transform myself from someone that just shipped features to someone that shipped code and closed deals. And as I embraced this transformation and adopted this mantra, my startup's trajectory started to shift.
I've now taken everything I've learned in my journey as a startup founder and codified it to this ONE framework that I use to guide founders through this shawshank crawl of product market fit. In this guide, I teach you the framework.
